MARION, MA - Looking to get rid of your used books? The Marion Transfer Station is now accepting new and used books, CDs, DVDs, videos, and audio books in a drop-off donation container. Residents of Marion, Carver, Wareham, and Rochester can deposit books every Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to1 p.m. The gray book donation container, distinguished by its purple and yellow ‘Got Books?’ signs, is located at the transfer station at the end of Benson Brook Road (off Rt. 6) in Marion. Free Books for Somerville Troops
SOMERVILLE, MA - Do you know a Somerville resident who is currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces overseas? Let Got Books send them a care package full of books! Local organization Got Books is looking for servicemen and women from Somerville and the surrounding area to receive books. Packages will be sent to local service members, with plenty of books to enjoy and to share with friends in their unit. This program provides local troops with engaging and high-quality books to read while serving in the military. Got Books will hand-pick the books, ensuring that every one will be appropriate and pleasing to its recipient. The books will typically be small paperbacks which are lighter and easier to carry. Learning Prep School collecting used books, CDs and DVDs
NEWTON, MA - The Learning Prep School, 1507 Washington St., is raising money through donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, videos, and audio books. The group has placed a drop-off donation container in its parking lot to collect these items. Learning Prep will be paid on an ongoing basis for all items collected in their donation container. NORTON, MA - We are off to a great start at LGN in 2010! You may have noticed our new "Got Books" bin located near our second driveway. This bin can be used for books (children's or adult books), DVDs, CDs, or audio books. The Got Books company sends these materials overseas to our troops, to other local charities, and offers them to local educators at discounted rates. The L.G. Nourse PTA will receive funds from the Got Books company based on the total weight of the donated materials. Read More...
Local Animal Shelter seeks book donations for fundraising
PLAINVILLE, MA - Angelcat Haven is raising money through donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, videos, and audio books. The group has obtained a drop-off donation container for residents, businesses, and others who wish to contribute books they no longer use and would like to repurpose, while also raising money for the feline rescue group. Angelcat Haven is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing the homeless and stray cats in Southeastern Massachusetts in need of a safe place while waiting to be adopted into a new home. NAHANT, MA - Looking to get rid of your used books? St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, of Nahant, is raising money through donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, videos and audio books. The group has placed a drop-off donation and reuse container for residents, businesses, schools, libraries and other groups who wish to contribute books they no longer have a use for and would like to see repurposed, while also raising money for the parish. The ‘Got Books?’ donation container, distinguished by its lively purple and yellow signs, is conveniently located in St. Thomas’ parking lot at 248 Nahant Road, in Nahant.
