ARTHUR D. HEALY SCHOOL IN SOMERVILLE, MA RECEIVES 1000 BOOKS FROM GOT BOOKS, INC OF WILMINGTON

“Got Books Great Book Giveaway” Provides Access to Books and Promotes Literacy for Children

Wilmington, MA January 3, 2012 – Got Books Inc. the leading used book collection and reuse company in New England announced that the Arthur D. Healy school in Somerville is the latest recipient of a “Great Book Giveaway” and has received a gift of 1000 books.  The books will stock the teacher’s libraries, the school library and each of the over 500 children at the school will receive a book to take home at the end of the school year. The gift to the school, which exceeds $5,000 in value is the latest donation from Got Books, Inc. to schools in the greater Boston area. Similar gifts have been made this year to schools in Everett, Boston, Mattapan, Lawrence, Malden and Salem MA.

Dave Sullivan, from the school’s PTA comments, “This is just shy of a miracle. The Healy School is an innovative participatory learning community where we believe that children learn best in a joyful, creative environment.  Having a wide range of books available opens the door to their natural curiosity, imagination and thinking. I cannot thank you enough.”

“Two-thirds of America’s children living in poverty have no books at home, and as we see on the news, the number of families living in poverty is on the rise. Many school libraries just don’t have enough books to go around”, comments Bob Ticehurst founder and president of Got Books, Inc.  At Got Books, we are committed to providing books to elementary schools in the greater Boston area to ensure that children have access to books.  With this gift to the Healy school, we’ve given away more than 11,000 books in the last 12 months – and are happy to do it!”
