Wilmington, MA – Got Books, Inc. the leading used book collection and reuse company in New England has announced that has been the sole-source donator of 2,000 books for distribution by the USO at Naval Station Newport’s annual Winter Carnival.  The gift to the USO, which exceeds $10,000 in value from Got Books, included books for children and adults of all ages.  The books were distributed by volunteers from the USO as well as senior managers from Got Books, Matt Libby and Justyne Werme.

“The USO, an independent nonprofit organization, is chartered with supporting our troops and their families both at their home base in the US and all over the world.  The Winter Carnival at Naval Station Newport is a great tradition that brings thousands of families together in a festive environment,” comments Steve Wujciak Executive Director of the USO of New England. “We are grateful to Got Books for stepping up to make a generous donation of books for everyone who attended.”

“As a Marine, I understand some of the stresses of life in the services,” comments Bob Ticehurst, CEO and founder of Got Books, Inc.  “From our headquarters in Wilmington, MA we operate our own Books-for-Troops Program which sends a box of books to every service man or women who requests them.  Being able to be part of the Naval Station Newport Winter Carnival was a great experience and we look forward to supporting the USO in their other projects.”

A nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities.
