Got Books Raises Money for Catholic Charities/St. Ambrose Family Inn of Dorchester
|
Want to get rid of your used books? Catholic Charities/St. Ambrose Family Inn of Dorchester is raising money through donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, records, and audio books. The group has recently placed a drop-off donation container to collect these items from community members who’d like to repurpose their used goods while also helping the shelter raise money. The group will be paid on an ongoing basis for all items collected in their donation container.
St. Ambrose is a transitional housing program for families aimed at providing shelter, support, and hope for homeless families in need. The inn strives to also prepare families to live successfully and independently by providing access to education and basic skills training. Since opening its doors in 1989, St. Ambrose has been home to more than 1,000 people.
The gray book donation container, distinguished by its purple and yellow ‘Got Books?’ signs, is located behind the church at 25 Leonard Street in Dorchester, off of Adams Street and Dickens Street. This program is an ongoing fundraiser and donations can be made by the public at any time. All funds raised through the collection of these donations will benefit the general funding of the shelter.
