Got Books Raises Money for Rockville Elks Lodge
|
Want to get rid of your used books? The Rockville Elks Lodge is raising money through donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, records and audio books. The group has recently placed two drop-off donation containers to collect these items from community members who’d like to repurpose their used goods while also helping the Elks raise money. The group will be paid on an ongoing basis for all items collected in their donation containers.
The gray book donation containers, distinguished by their purple and yellow ‘Got Books?’ signs, are located in the parking lot of the lodge at 9 North Park Street and in the Courthouse Plaza at 20 East Main Street, Rockville. This program is an ongoing fundraiser and donations can be made by the public at any time. All funds raised through the collection of these donations will benefit Elks funding.
The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is one of the oldest and largest fraternal organizations in the country. The Elks are committed to the ideals of charity and patriotism and have disbursed more than $2.69 billion in cash, goods, and services to the nation’s youth, veterans, disadvantaged and handicapped as well as in support of patriotic and civic programs.
