Want to get rid of your used books? The American Legion Auxiliary of Southington is raising money through donations of new and used books, CDs, DVDs, videos, and audio books. The group has recently placed a drop-off donation container to collect these items from community members who’d like to repurpose their used goods while also helping the Auxiliary raise money. The group will be paid on an ongoing basis for all items collected in their donation container.

The mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to serve veterans, their families, children and youth, and their communities. They educate children, organize community events, and help our nation’s veterans through legislative action and volunteering.

The gray book donation container, distinguished by its purple and yellow ‘Got Books?’ signs, is located in the back parking lot of the YMCA at 29 High Street in Southington. This program is an ongoing fundraiser and donations can be made by the public at any time. All funds raised through the collection of these donations will help the group purchase books and reading materials for local schoolchildren, daycare centers, the local hospital, the local library, and the community social service department.
